E is for Everybody is Yawning (Preschool and Two's)

Preschool Storytime:

Opening: Big Books

Book: Good Night, Mr. Panda
*How can you not be in love with Mr. Panda???? I've never read any of these books in storytime before, so I was so happy to do this one. Sadly, it received a lukewarm reaction. Don't get me wrong, the preschoolers didn't hate it, but they didn't rave over it either. Still, I will always love the Mr. Panda books!

Fingerplay/Flannel:  Five Cozy Blankets
5 cozy blankets with patterns galore,
1 covered Rabbit and then there were four.
4 cozy blankets as snuggly as can be,
1 covered Raccoon and then there were three.
3 cozy blankets with dots red and blue,
1 covered Fox and then there were two.
2 cozy blankets made just for fun,
1 covered Bear and then there was one.
1 cozy blanket left out in the sun,
It covered Owl and then there were none.
*This is one of my favorite flannels to do for bedtime, and it never gets old! I never cover up my animals the correct way, just to get the preschoolers riled up. I have clipart of my animals I place up on the board, and when I place the blanket over the animal, I'll put it sideways, over the head, something silly to get a reaction out of the preschoolers. This will have much laughter happening, which is exactly what I am after.

Fingerplay: Put the Baby to Bed
*I've used this once before, and this time the preschoolers were so excited to do it! I highly recommend doing this them, its such a great way for them to stretch their imagination.

Book: Firefly Home
*This is another stunning picture book by my fav author Britta Teckentrup. You are chasing the light of the firefly through each page, which prompts great discussion with the preschoolers about what they are seeing.

Fingerplay/Flannel: Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Action: Dancing with Bears
*For this, I have a big bed that I have velcro stuck on. Then I've taken little bears that I've made, and put more velcro on them. This way, after we dance around with our bears, the preschoolers can "stick" their bears to the bed or the flannelboard itself. They love doing this, its so cute!

I have to say this craft made me so happy! We laid out the hair, pajama bottoms, houseshoes and items for the preschoolers to glue onto the top. I have to say, the hair that they glued down was the cutest! I wish I took pictures of some of the finished crafts, they were so precious. We did have a few mo hawks!

Time for Two’s Storytime:

Opening: Big Books

Fingerplay: If You Want to Hear a Story

Book:  My Bed
*This book went over okay with the two's. Some of them really loved it, and some were just okay with it. You just never know sometimes, but I still like it.

Fingerplay/Flannel:  Bug Hiding Game
Little bug, little bug, are you under the {red} rug?

Fingerplay: Animal Action Cards
*For this we stood up and acted like a bunch of different animals, while my volunteer had each puppet visit us while we did this.

Action: Dancing with Bears
*For this, I have a big bed that I have velcro stuck on. Then I've taken little bears that I've made, and put more velcro on them. This way, after we dance around with our bears, the two's can "stick" their bears to the bed or the flannelboard itself. The two's love sticking anything to the flannelboard, so this is a perfect opportunity for that.

The two's did the same craft as the preschoolers did, which is pictured above. The only difference is the two's had bunny rabbit house shoes and they glued down dots onto their pajama craft.
