Fingerplay: If You Want to Hear a Story

Book: Don’t Wake the Tiger!

*I did a little something with this book, I had my volunteer behind me with a tiger puppet. While I read the book, we made sure that we didn't wake up the tiger! The kids had fun doing all the actions with me that went along with the book.

Fingerplay: Ten Little Froggies (Only do five and use five green and speckled frogs prop)

One little froggie goes hop

Along comes another and they just can't stop so...

Two little froggies go hop, hop

Along comes another and they just can't stop

Three little froggies go hop, hop, hop

Along comes another and they just can't stop. soo

Continue in this manner and end as follows

Ten little froggies go hop, hop, hop, hop hop

Drop! time to stop

Hop each time you count the froggies...and when you get to ten hop ten

times and count on fingers...fall gently down to floor

Fingerplay: Bottoms Up! (With puppets)

*The two's love puppets, so for this book my volunteer had all the puppets pop up behind me! It's always a big hit when the puppets show up!

Fingerplay/Flannel: Transportation Matching Game

*I was excited to have a matching game for the two's, but this was just a little too much for them. But I have to say the preschoolers love it!

Fingerplay/Flannel: Little Mouse with Rocket Ship

Our craft today was a hot air balloon!

T and U are for Things That Go Up! (Preschool and Two's)

This is a brand new theme for me, and I was a little worried about it. Thankfully, it turned out to be so much fun and the kids enjoyed it so much! This is one I definitely will do again.

*The kids love telling me what I have wrong on my flannelboard, and today was no exception.

Book: Little Plane Learns to Write

*This books is really cute, and I wanted to incorporate the clouds onto my flannelboard. I cut out all the letters, and had my volunteer place them on the flannelboard as the little plane spelled them out. But when little plane had trouble make the letter "o" we would all roll our hands to help him. The kids loved rolling their hands as little plane did “loops”.

“Five Little Airplanes”

Five little airplanes flying around

Zoom…zoom…zomm

One decided to touch down …zoom (Here we all touched the floor.)

Leaving 4 little airplanes flying around.

Continue song with 4…3…2…1…

There were not little airplanes flying around

Then all 5 airplanes left the ground

*We stood up and acted like planes and touched the ground.  Went crazy screaming and shouting when a plane disappeared behind me.

Book: Not a Box

* I drew out the pictures from the book, and placed them on a box, along with my rabbit puppet. They kids enjoyed this, but not as much as I had hoped.

*Instead of hunting for our little mouse behind a house we hunted for a fox behind a rocket ship!

*I had time to read but didn’t want to push the kids. Looking back I wish I had read it, it's a simple but really cute board book and I think they would have really enjoyed the silly animals.

*For this I make big stars to go on my flannelboard. When I take one off, I have a bunch of little stars that I throw out onto the kids. They absolutely love this!

Our craft today was an airplane!  The preschoolers had crayons laid out so they could write their name in place of the windows.  A few of them got very creative and drew their family inside the airplane.  So precious!

*This book is so much fun! Each page opens up with only the lights showing of the vehicle, and the kids can guess what they think is hiding behind the page. The two's really got into it and was excited to see what was vehicle was coming up.

*I was a little hesitant to do this with the two's, but they did great with it! I will definitely be doing more interactive flannels like this one in the future. Check out how to do this wonderful flannel at this website.

File Folder Story: Old MacDonald Had a Truck
*This is such a cute story to tell, and I love changing the color of the truck right before the kids eyes. Check out the full story and how to do it here.

*This is always a fun game to play, and I love that the truck fit right into the theme this time.  Here is where I found this adorable game.

Book: Seals on the Bus

*A great take on the classic song, but with animals! My volunteer popped up the animals behind me as we sang, and the kids loved it!

Fingerplay/Flannel: Dump Trucks

Garbage truck, garbage truck, cleaning up town.

Do you see any garbage lying around?

Pick up the trash and match it to a truck, soon the whole town will be all cleaned up!

*This is a great interactive thing to do, but we ran out of time for it today. Check it out here!

Book: Zoom, Zoom, Baby!

*We didn't read this book, because I had a little too much planned! But it's a great lift-the-flap book for the two's.

Fingerplay/Flannel: Truck Dancing

*For this, I made lots of trucks, laminated them and put velcro on the back. I handed them out and we danced around with them before placing them on the flannelboard.

For our craft today, the kids placed foamies onto the road. We didn't have to use gluesticks, since the foamies were self-adhesive. The website where I found this craft isn't available anymore. Above is our version of it.

*I ended up not doing this flannel because I couldn't find a flannel piece when I was setting up for storytime!  But the kids always love playing this game and telling me what I have gotten wrong on my flannelboard.  Check out how to do it on this website.

*My favorite pick of storytime, but the kids didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped.

Pretty Kite, pretty kite, almost out of sight.

What do you spy, in the bright blue sky?

Shining bright, we can play and have fun,

*The kids loved playing this guessing game!  Before I could finish reading the clues, they knew everything I was describing. I found this wonderful guessing game here.

*This is a stand-by and the kids went crazy over it today. You never know what is going to be a hit with them, and this was it!

Book: Smash! Mash! Crash! There Goes the Trash!

*I love this book about garbage trucks! I ended up making a garbage truck to prop up on my puppet stage and had clip art of all the garbage from the book. As I read, I fed my garbage to the garbage truck. The kids enjoyed seeing the truck eat up all the stinky garbage.

*This was so much fun, I plan on using it again this summer for our SRP. I found this great interactive idea here. The kids had an absolute blast throwing their garbage inside my box. I had a garbage truck taped to the front of my box.
