*I have always used this, and the kids love doing it. It was used before I started, and if it works, don't change it!

Book: "The Zoo is Closed Today"

Fingerplay: "Zoo Animals" (Tune: If You're Happy and You Know It"

         If you want to be an alligator, chomp your hands (repeat)

         If you want to be an alligator, if you want to be an alligator

         If you want to be an alligator, chomp your hands

         Continue with: Monkey, jump up high; Bird, flap your wings; 

         Snake, slither slow; Giraffe, stretch real tall

Book: "So Cozy"

Fingerplay/Flannel: "Animal Guessing Game"

Fingerplay: "Five Beautiful Flowers"

        Five beautiful flowers, each a beautiful hue.

        I took a big sniff, just for you, and then I went, ACHOO!
*I apologize, I don't remember where I found this adorable fingerplay above.  When I sneeze, I will throw paper petals onto the kids.  They love it!

*This was one of my favorite storytimes to do, even though at the start I wasn't too sure about it.  When I read the first book, we used puppets and the kids loved it.  With the book "So Cozy" I had my dog's actual bed, and we used puppets to pile up inside the bed.  At the end of the book, the elephant sneezes and all the animals scatter, which means all the puppets go flying through the air!  I thought the kids would enjoy the book "Stand Back, Said the Elephant, I'm Going to Sneeze!" but it was the least favorite of the bunch.
