H is for Happy Hippos Hopping (Preschool and Two's)

Preschool Storytime:

Opening: Big Books

Book: Wheels on the Bus(Special Guest doing ASL.)

*I was worried this might have been a little too juvenile a book for the preschooler, but they went wild over the puppets!

Fingerplay: Five Ferocious Lions (Put up on puppet stage)
Deep in the jungle, what did I hear?
Five ferocious lions, roaring loud and clear.
“ROAR” said the lion.
“SCAT” said I.
And one ferocious lion said GOODBYE! (Remove lion and repeat until zero.)
*I apologize, I have no idea where I found this adorable rhyme! I have five lions up on my puppet stage and we did lots of fun actions to make our lions disappear!

Board Book: Ha-Ha! Made You Laugh!

*This book is so hilarious, if you haven't read it yet, go, right now!!! I don't normally do board books with the preschoolers, but you get to do funny interactions to each animal. Then when you open the flap something happens to make you laugh! The preschoolers thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the comical things happen inside this book.

Fingerplay/Flannel: Lion Hiding Game
Lion, lion, where can you be?
Shout out a color on the count of three!

Song: Five Little Monkeys Swinging in the Tree (With puppets)

*I was very impressed with how the crafts turned out today!  The inspiration for this craft was taken from a book called "Shapes, Reshape".   The only thing that was glued down ahead of time was the body of the lion.  That way there was a little guidance of how the craft went.  I definitely want to make more crafts that go along with this book!

Today was our game day! Click here to check out what we did!
