Time for Two’s Storytime:
Opening: Big Books
Fingerplay: If You Want to Hear a Story
Book: Clip-Clop
*This is my go-to book for a farm or horse storytime. The two's had so much fun patting their legs with me as we said clip-clop. They really enjoyed seeing all the animals pop up behind me!
Fingerplay: “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
*I am trying to sing more songs during storytime, and this is a classic! I think the two's would have been happy if all we did was jump. They didn't want to stop jumping!
Fingerplay/Flannel: “This Little Chick”
*The two's loved telling me what color chicken I was holding up. You can find this flannelboard here.
Book/Puppets: “Barnyard Banter”
*In this book, you are looking for goose. Since we don't have a goose puppet, I tell the kids we are looking for duck. To make this book more interactive, I have my volunteer pop up the duck puppet behind me every time I say, "Where's duck?". Thankfully, the two's let me know immediately that duck was behind me. But I never could find that duck until the very end of the book. This book is a great to use, because the two's help make all the farm animal noises as you read along
Fingerplay/Flannel: Five Little Cowboys Jumping on the Bed
*I am so disappointed with myself, I completely forgot to have this ready for storytime. I printed out five cowboys and cowgirls. My plan was to place them on my flannel bed and have us jump up and down while we did the fingerplay that is just like "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" except with cowboys and cowgirls. I will have this ready for when we do the farm this summer!
Action: Farm Animal Dancing
*To end storytime, we danced around with pigs and cows before placing them on our flannelboard.
For our craft today, the two's glued yellow stars onto their cowboy boot!
