Preschool Group Storytime:
Opening: Big Books
Book: Pete the Cat; Five Little Ducks
*When I read this book, I have five ducks propped up behind me on the puppet stage. As I read, my volunteer takes down a duck, which makes the preschools go crazy!
Fingerplay/Flannel: Birdhouse matching game
*For this game, I have three birdhouses and three birds, all different colors. I start out with all of them not matching up and ask the preschoolers to tell me if they are all in the right house. The preschoolers love telling me when I have something wrong on my flannelboard!
Book: My First Peek-a-Boo Animals
*I was a little worried this board book would be too young for preschool, but they loved it! The group I read to on Monday especially enjoyed this one.
Action: Animal Flash Cards
Book: Will You Help Doug Find His Dog?
Action: Frog Hopping
Five little froggies go hop, hop, hop, hop hop
(Have a frog hop away)
Time to stop! Let's count again!
(Keep jumping and counting until zero frogs hopping.)
*The website I found this one has been blocked, unfortunately. But this is a wonderful fingerplay that the preschoolers go crazy over!
